Anthony C. Cappadonia, Director of Choirs, Director of Music at the State University, Agricultural and Technical Institute at Alfred
Professor Cappadonia has been a member of the Institute faculty since September 1951. He is a graduate of Ithaca College and he also holds a Master's Degree in Music from the same school.
Mr. Cappadonia has also been guest conductor of All-County choirs and adjudicator for the past several years.
CHOIR PORTRAIT
The Concert Choir consisting of 120 voices, takes time out from their various studies to rehearse daily under the direction of Anthony C. Cappadonia. Mr. Cappadonia strives for perfection not only in the Concert Choir, but also in the other singing groups he directs, including the Varsity Choir which consists of a small group of select voices chosen from the Concert Choir. The Harmaniacs, four male voices, and the Men's Glee Club.
Work, talent and enthusiasm are the three keys to their successful accomplishments, each depending on the existence of the other. By cooperation and a greater understanding of the music, all sections perfect their own parts until the final blend of voices is achieved. The supreme satisfaction and enjoyment is felt by all when performing the finished product before an audience at home or on tour.
While on tour this student group performs for varied audiences: alumni banquets, radio and television broadcasts, statewide conventions, and many schools and colleges. Although much of their time is devoted to outside audiences, the choir always saves time to perform for its fellow students. The annual Spring Concert, Alfred State Tech Fall Festival concerts, assemblies, and student Recognition Day are only a few of these home appearances.
