**It is important for you to know the current graduation requirements for your program. Per Academic Regulation 102, "Each individual student has ultimate responsibility for understanding and adhering to each of these regulations and for meeting the requirements for graduation as stated herein." Please see Academic Regulation 200 Graduation Requirements for complete information. The academic regulations can be viewed in the Student Handbook/Planner or by clicking on the "Academic Regulations" link below. Further, students who readmit must comply with degree requirements at the time of readmission. Students should direct specific questions to their advisors/department chairs.**

Individual programs are listed in the College catalog, and these listings include both the general and technical components necessary for completion of degree requirements. Each degree, except the AOS, has certain minimum requirements that must be met in the liberal arts and sciences, typically social science, natural science, mathematics, humanities and physical education. These are included in the Academic Regulations contained in the college catalog, and the Policies & Procedures Manual. If you plan to graduate you must apply on-line or submit a Degree Application Form to the Office of Enrollment Services. Each semester during a specified period of time, on-line graduation applications will be made available for prospective graduates. Hard copy degree application forms are available from academic departments or the Enrollment Services Office. You can only apply for graduation on-line from a program that you have been enrolled in. If you are applying to graduate from a program that you have never been enrolled in, you can only use the hardcopy degree application form. You can check the Procedures for A Student to Apply for A Degree Never Enrolled In or Two Degrees at Different Levels. It is
important that you meet regularly with your academic adviser
who will assist you with academic problems and monitor your progress
towards satisfaction of graduation requirements for the degree you are
pursuing. The graduation eligibility of expected graduates is checked and finalized by Academic Departments during Status Meetings at the end of each semester. The date when status meetings are held is considered to be the date the degree is awarded and all course work must be completed by this date. Any credit hours earned after this date cannot be counted toward the current graduation term. Final graduation lists are submitted to the Registrar by Academic Departments per the published End of the Semester Timetable. The following is a guide to determine if a student may be eligible to receive two degrees in the same year: Certificate Programs: Attended Alfred State College for two full years and earned a minimum of 60 credit hours. Associate Programs: Attended Alfred State College for three full years and earned a minimum of 90 credit hours, or transferred in 30 credit hours but earned a minimum of 60 credit hours (not including challenge credit) at Alfred State College. The two associate programs must differ by a minimum of 30 credit hours. Baccalaureate Programs: Attended Alfred State College for five full years and earned a minimum of 150 credit hours, or transferred in 90 credit hours but earned a minimum of 60 upper-division credit hours (not including challenge credit) at Alfred State College. The two baccalaureate programs must differ by a minimum of 30 credit hours. If you plan to Graduate in December or May this academic year, you should check the Graduation Timeline for December 2007 or for May 2008 to note important dates. If you plan to attend a commencement ceremony please note: All students must pay a $50 non-refundable fee in order to participate in the commencement ceremony. This $50 fee will be imposed per ceremony attended. Baccalaureate candidates and students receiving more than one degree may also be charged for additional accoutrements at the campus store. Students must attend the ceremony to receive their diploma cover and/or honor cord. |
