 Attendance Procedures

Faculty is required to notify the Registrar when students stop attending classes or, in the case of Internet students, stop logging into Blackboard.  The following procedures will bring us into compliance for state and federal financial aid.  The procedure will be combined with the current class rosters, whereby faculty will report non-attendance to their Department Chairs for follow up at the beginning of each semester.  Further, the procedure will be combined with current interim grade rosters, whereby faculty will report non-attendance to the Registrar.

 1.       On the first day of classes, class rosters will be printed and distributed by the Enrollment Services Office to academic departments.  After that, each faculty member is responsible for printing updated rosters on a daily basis from Banner Web for Faculty.

2.       After comparing attendance or, in the case of Internet students, log-in on Blackboard, to class rosters on a daily basis for the first three weeks of classes, up to the established census date and time, faculty will notify their Department Chair of any attendance issues on an on-going basis.

3.       Academic Departments will review students taking coursework in their area who have attendance issues and are reported as “never attended” or “stopped attending.” Academic Departments must notify the student's Department Chair (if not enrolled in a major in their own department) of students who are reported as “never attended” or “stopped attending”.

4.   The Academic Department in which the student is matriculated will contact the student(s) and advise to process Course Change Notices or Withdrawal forms, making any changes necessary to their course schedule and/or student status, as soon as possible.  Students begin to incur liability after the first day of classes.

5.   Students who feel they have special circumstances that warrant their being made a Fail to Enroll, may submit a written petition to the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

ALL PROBLEMS MUST BE RESOLVED BY CENSUS DAY 11:00 A.M.
