Math/Physics Facilities

The physics laboratories are well equipped with apparatus to facilitate learning by direct experience and to provide students with an opportunity to " discover" many principles on their own. Most laboratory instructors are members of the regular teaching staff and, in most cases, is the same instructor that the student has for the physics lecture session. All the physics instructors are available and willing to talk with individual students for consultation or help on lecture or laboratory work.
Facilities include a linear air track, lasers, PASCO equipment, free fall apparatus, force tables, PASCO Science Workshop 500 interface, motion and force detectors, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, precision electrical measuring devices, as well as a large collection of traditional physics apparatus, many of which are used directly by the students in their laboratory work.  The Modern Physics lab experiments include; the photoelectric effect, Michelson-Morley Interferometer , Millikan's oil drop, Frank-Hertz , Heisenberg's uncertainty, Stephan Boltzmann and the hydrogen Balmer Series. In addition, the Math/Physics Department has an extensive collection of audio visual materials.
