The Student Senate Mission
The Student Senate of Alfred State College is composed of representatives of the student body. We provided leadership by actively addressing campus issues and managing the activities fees, with a commitment to improve all aspects of the student experience. The aim of the Student Senate is to maintain and improve the quality of student life, strengthen academic excellence, and enrich the college experience.
The Student Senate is composed of representatives from all funded organizations, the Greek Council, and the residence halls. Members conduct business relevant to matters dealing with the welfare of the student body; approve Student Senate budget allocations; and act on recommendations of the Executive Board. Any student may attend any Campus-wide Senate meetings.
If you are interested in becoming involved with Student Senate, contact a member of the Executive Board in our office located in the Orvis Activities Center. Excerpts from our constitution... The Student Senate continually seeks input from students on new projects, concerns, and services affecting students and the College community. This is achieved through student involvement in the Student Senate Executive Board, the Senate Campus-Wide structure, and in clubs and organizations.
Student Senate is the primary voice of student opinion at Alfred State College. The Senate assists individual students, recognized organizations, and other groups to enhance student life.
The Student Senate of Alfred State College:
· Provides effective communication whereby students, faculty, and administration work cooperatively toward the betterment of the College.
· Establishes a vehicle by which students are able to present pertinent ideas, proposals, and question College policies.
· Acts on issues pertinent to student life.
· Disburses and regulates the Student Activities Fee for the benefit of the student body and the College.
· Promotes leadership, citizenship, and campus morale.
· Actively encourages the involvement of students in campus governance.
