Cash Flow and Commuters

A word on cash flow…

Many commuter students will qualify for significant refunds of financial aid once the college bills are paid. Students will be notified of refunds by the Student Accounts office, located in the ASCUS Center, Ag Science building.

Recent system improvements make getting a refund faster than it’s ever been, but just a word to the wise…

Refunds don’t always arrive on the same day that the gas or phone bills are due. Refunds aren’t specifically timed for the day your car breaks down. Make sure that all of your paperwork is in order by contacting Financial Aid and/or Student Accounts for an estimate of when your aid will be available!!!

Your academic faculty cares about your success!! They want to see you do well in course work and go beyond Alfred State College to be immensely successful alumni.

As a commuter, for them to understand your unique needs and challenges, please take a moment to personally introduce yourself. Let your faculty and your advisor know who you are, that you have a spouse and a couple of children, or that it’s been twenty years since you were last in a classroom.

Just like you, faculty are people too!! Take the time to make a personal connection with your instructors. You’ll be glad you did!

Now you know that there is a student organization on campus whose specific responsibility is to enhance the commuter experience. It’s the Commuter Council, a group, composed of non-resident students of all ages, Commuter Council meets to provide periodic feedback to the College on issues that confront its membership. Everything form parking to computer lab access to study lounges and scheduling is fair game for the Commuter Council.

The council is funded by the Student Senate of Alfred State College from funds derived from mandatory student activities fees. Join the Commuter Council!
