Article I – Name of the OrganizationSection 1 This organization shall be known as the Alfred Programming Board (hereinafter referred to as APB), of the State University of New York College of Technology at Alfred (hereinafter known as Alfred State College). Article II – Purpose of the OrganizationSection 1 APB is established as a student organization to enhance campus life, student development, and student involvement by providing entertainment and co-curricular programming to the students of Alfred State College. Article III – MembershipSection 1 Membership in APB shall be open to all students of Alfred State College. Section 2 All members may initiate new ideas, encourage student activities, and be an effective communicator to all students of Alfred State College. Article IV – Leadership Structure & DutiesSection 1 As an organization devoted to student development, all leadership positions are designed to promote personal dignity, self-esteem, self-confidence, and communication and leadership skills. Section 2 Elections for the following year will take place prior to Spring Break. Elections to fill open positions will be held as necessary according to the by-laws. Section 3 Co-Presidents – two members of APB will share the responsibilities outlined below. Once a regular meeting time and location has been established, the co-presidents will be responsible for running the meetings. The co-president convening the meeting does not vote on issues unless s/he is required to provide the deciding vote in the event of a tie. The co-presidents will ensure that the responsibilities of all subordinate positions are completed. A co-president, or delegate, will attend all events sponsored by the APB and provide hospitality to performers as contractually obligated. The co-presidents will be directly responsible for all major events. A major event is defined as any event that requires at least 5% of the organization’s budget. The co-presidents are required to represent APB and Alfred State College at the National Association for Campus Activities (hereinafter referred to as NACA) regional conference. Section 4 Entertainment Co-Chairs – two members of APB will chair a sub-committee with responsibilities for: Movie selection. Recommendation of comedians to the full membership. Recommendation of bands to the full membership. Recommendation of novelty events to the full membership. In order to successfully chair this committee, the co-chairs are expected to attend the NACA regional conference. Section 5 Publicity and Membership Chair – a member of APB will chair a sub-committee with responsibilities for: Creation of flyers and handbills Maintaining a web-page linked to the page maintained by the Office of Campus Life at Alfred State College. Providing information on events for publicity on WETD – FM. Providing information on events for inclusion on Channel 3, Alfred State College’s information channel. Recruitment of members at all APB events. Section 6 Intramurals Chair – a member of APB will have the responsibility to assist the students of Alfred State College in being able to participate in various fields of sports and recreation on the School of Applied Technology Campus at Wellsville. Section 7 Secretary – a member of APB will have the following responsibilities: Maintain records of meetings Maintain the calendar of the organization Serve as representative to the Student Senate of Alfred State College at all campus-wide meetings. Section 8 Treasurer – a member of APB will work closely with the advisor of APB to fulfill the following responsibilities: Day to day financial transactions of APB Maintain accurate records of financial activities of APB Give accurate financial reports to the APB membership at each meeting. Give an accurate financial report to the Student Senate of Alfred State College, from which it receives funding, upon request. Article V – By-LawsSection 1 By-laws consistent with this constitution may be adopted or amended by a vote (consistent with Parliamentary Procedure) at a regular meeting of APB having first been presented to the membership in writing prior to the meeting Article VI – Amendment ProceduresSection 1 Amendments to this constitution may be adopted by a vote (consistent with Parliamentary Procedure) at a regular meeting of APB having first been presented to the membership in writing prior to the meeting Article VII – Advisor DutiesSection 1 This organization shall be advised by the Coordinator for Campus Programming. S/he is responsible for: being present at all meetings when possible coordination of fiscal affairs with the treasurer contracting services approved by APB being accessible to the students of Alfred State College ensuring the students are acting within the policies and procedures of the State University of New York, Alfred State College, and its Student Senate. |
