Kayak/Canoe/C1 Lessons
This course includes instruction in basic paddling techniques and in kayak and canoe skills.  Persons who can successfully maneuver a kayak, canoe, or C1 are invited to participate in the spring semester hardboaters trip.  Cost for these lessons — FREE.

Weekend Outings

Throughout the year, various trips are offered to students for a $10-20 fee, plus four meal punches.  Faculty and staff are charged double the student rate.  The cost covers food, transportation, campground, equipment, and instruction.  Look for trip announcements posted on campus, in the college newspaper (Tor Echo), on the “events” channel, and on the campus radio station (WETD).  Sign-ups are held two weeks prior to the date of the trip.

Surfing

Leadership skills are fostered by the Outdoor Recreation Club’s Council which is made up of students from Alfred State College.  These positions include president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, equipment control, and public relations. Watch for posters advertising the first information meeting on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.  Elections to ORC’s Council will be held at this meeting.  Watch for the ORC logo on all ads announcing sign-up dates and times. If you have any future programming ideas, please feel free to attend any of the ORC open meetings and share them with us.

Indoor Climbing Cave

The climbing cave will open in September.  It will be open Monday through Thursday – hours to be determined.  If you are on campus visiting, please, check it out!
